The survey was completed Monday as planned. We now know the perimeters of the property. The first acre is being chopped which means the growth on the property is being levelled to the ground except for the small trees. This helps us see the low and high spots on the property.
The mayor has agreed to furnish a town truck on the north side of the island for us to collect sea grass and add to the property for fill. (The common practice is for local residents to rake and pile up the sea grass in the mornings to maintain the beauty of the beach then a town truck picks it up and hauls it away.) With special permission from the town council and mayor to provide the truck, we are utilizing this sea grass north of town for fill on the property. The truck should be available next Saturday as confirmation is completed. Meanwhile we continue to rake and haul the neighbor’s beaches as the sea grass washes up on shore everyday little by little. The sea grass makes for a great biodegradable foundation to be able to walk across as we continue to build up the property.
The tide has been high this week and we still aren’t sure of the pattern. Some locals have told us that the water is currently high due to the tropical storms. Needless to say we have been working in our water boots this week but thankful to be on the property!
